Our short week has been great. Please remember that there is no school tomorrow, March 13th and Monday, March 16th. 

 

Also, thank you to those of you who have donated to our basket for Basket Bingo. There is still time if you haven't donated yet and would like to.

 

You will find grade cards in folders today. Please sign and return and indicate, on the attached form, whether or not you would like a parent/teacher conference at this time.

Grade cards for 3rd quarter will come home on March 12th. I am available to meet for a conference if you would like to discuss your child's grades in person. I will send the report cards home and ask you to review and sign them as I have done in the past.

Happy Friday!!

 

We have had a great week!! We are published authors!! We are planning to celebrate with a publishing party on Monday. I am encouraging students to bring in their favorite book from home to share with the class. Also, we will have treats. If your student would like to contribute a snack, that would be great.

 

I received a message from the Science Center that they now have a conflict on the day of our scheduled field trip and can no longer host us on May 5th. I am in the process of rescheduling. I anticipate our new date to be April 27th. I will let you know as soon as I have confirmation of that date.

Basket Bingo

The School Board will be hosting Basket Bingo in the school gym on Saturday, March 28th.  They have asked each classroom to work together to "fill" a basket with items related to a certain theme.  2nd Grade has chosen Dr. Seuss as our theme.  If you would like to donate toward this project, please send an item of around $5 value that is Dr. Seuss related.  $5 cash donations would also be appreciated.  If you wish to contribute, please send to school by Friday, March 20th and look for more information to come regarding Basket Bingo.

Another awesome week!!

 

Next week we will take our spelling test on Thursday instead of Friday. We will be traveling to Luther Manor on Friday morning and then school will dismiss at 12:30 pm. If you are available to drive please let me know.

We had a wonderful week! 

 

Since we will only be at school for two days next week we will not begin new spelling words or memory work until the first week of December. Monday and Tuesday we will be focusing on Thanksgiving and thanking God for his many blessings.

 

Mrs. Adcock wanted me to announce to you that on Monday 2nd grade will be walking/traveling to the church to practice Boomwhackers with the piano. We will walk if the weather permits. We will go during our normal music time from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm.

I am not sure how it is October already but, it is! 2nd grade continues to work hard. I have received many compliments, from various teachers in the building, about how well behaved and hard working 2nd grade has been. I am very proud of them.

Our focus verse for next week:

God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea. Psalm 46: 1-2

 

During Religion, we will be learning the Ten Commandments.

During Social Studies we will be discussing the equator, poles, and hemispheres and Science will focus on how scientists think and how to form a hypothesis.

 

We began specials this week. 2nd grade did an awesome job in all of them and we all remembered our tennis shoes. Good job 2nd grade!!
