I can hardly believe the end of the school year is upon us. There were days I thought it would never come, and yet it seems just like yesterday that I began my tenure as principal at St. Michael. I am so grateful to everyone who has worked to make this a great year for our students.
Please note that tuition rates have been set for the 2016-17 school year. Tuition information will be sent home to families this week as well as a tuition agreement form and fee information. Tuition payment options will be the same as well as tuition in full payment deadline is June 15.
Summer reading information will also be sent home today. Grades 3-8 also have a project associated with their summer reading book(s), which will be recorded as their first reading grade of the trimester. All summer reading assignments will be due no later than Friday, August 19th. This will be the only mandated assignments, but we do encourage students to continue to practice their math and writing skills over the summer as well. Summer Solutions workbooks are available for purchase. Also, school subscriptions to Lexia, IXL, Discovery, BrainPop and ABC Mouse are available to students to access over the summer. There are many wonderful summer programs and camps that are offered. Many of these opportunities are posted on Sycamore and on the bulletin board by the elevator. For questions about summer work or opportunities, please contact Mrs. Barr or Mrs. Goss.
Summer registration will once again be through Sycamore. Directions to complete registration as well as additional materials for next year will be available in early June. Parents will receive an email notification when registration is available for current families.
I am excited to announce our new faculty members for the 2016-17 school year. I hope you will enjoy reading a little about each of them. They bring incredible energy and talent to our faculty.
Lauren Bell - Third Grade
I love teaching all subjects, especially math and science! I chose teaching after I volunteered at a local elementary school throughout high school. That experience made me fall in love with being in the classroom and getting the chance to inspire and motivate students to be the best they can be.
As a 2008 graduate of St. Michael, I am so excited to be returning to a community that already feels like home! I graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. During my time on the hill, I was extremely involved on campus as well as in the education department through several organizations where I had the opportunity to serve on the executive board. The organizations include, but are not limited to, Chi Omega, Kappa Delta Pi and Order of Omega, each of which hold a special place in my heart. Upon returning to Louisville, I will be surrounded by family and friends who are ready to support me as I embark on this journey. I can't wait for August and go Knights!
Rachel Crisologo- Spanish Teacher
I am very excited to join the St. Michael Community. I currently work at St. Gabriel in their pre-school program and have loved every minute of it but look forward to teaching the subject I love, Spanish. In 2015, I graduated from Asbury University with my degree in P-12th grade Spanish Education. While at Asbury I was able to study abroad in Seville, Spain and live in the Spanish Emersion House on campus my last two years of undergrad. My husband and I were married in December, and Louisville became our home so he can pursue his degree at Louisville School of Medicine. I truly cannot wait till August when I get to teach the subject I love and get to know the many wonderful students at St. Michael!
Karen Duff - Fifth Grade Math and Religion
I am excited to join the St. Michael teaching faculty as the new 5th grade Math and Religion teacher. For the past 8 years, I have enjoyed working in a leadership role as the K-8th grade school counselor at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School in New Albany, Indiana. Prior to Our Lady, I taught Math at St. Martha School for 4 years and I am eager to return to the classroom to teach a subject I am passionate about. I cannot wait to meet the upcoming 5th grade students and instill an appreciation of Math in each of them! The other very important job I have had for the past 10 years is the job of a mother. My husband, Joe, and I are the proud parents of 4 boys - ages 10, 7, 5, and a baby. I look forward to bringing my experiences as a teacher and School Guidance Counselor to St. Michael School.

I graduated from Assumption High School and earned my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisville. I am currently enrolled in Bellarmine University’s Masters in Teaching program. I am passionate about teaching, children, learning, and Art. Over the past two years I have worked with our pre-school students on a substitute teaching basis and as a volunteer. My husband and I are moving to Louisville this summer to be closer to family and friends. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Kentucky, and I am currently working on my Master’s Degree in School Counseling. I love teaching in a Catholic School and sharing my faith with my students. Some teaching achievements I have had include leading six students to regional finals and one student to state finals in the 4H speech contest, a previous student won first place in a writing contest for Lexington Family Magazine, and I was just recently the weekly “Tell on Your Teacher” winner for 106.3 FM radio station. TJ Lechner- 4th grade
Hi, I'm Mr. Lechner, and I am thrilled to be the new 4th grade teacher at St. Michael! I'm happy to be a part of the family! I am a graduate at the University of Louisville with an Elementary Education Degree in K-5. I grew up in the Catholic Church and graduated from one of your rivals, St. Patrick. I have been coaching swimming for the past nine years for one summer league team (Douglass Hills) and two USA Swim Teams (Cardinal Aquatics and Triton). Some things I love: reading, sports, hiking, and music. My philosophy: I enjoy watching kids grow, learn, and succeed in life. It's is very important to me that students know how to apply what they learn to the real world. I want to help students deal with the adversities of today's society and give them the tools and means to succeed! I look forward to meeting and getting to know everyone! Go Knights!
