Letter From the Principal
Dear Families,
I hope everyone had a wonderful, safe and relaxing Spring Break.  I spent the week with my youngest son, my husband and four other families from his school in Palm Island, Florida.  While on this island, with no internet, no shops, no cars, one restaurant, and nothing to do but hang out on the beautiful beach, I thought this would be a perfect place to return with him as he gets older because it would be virtually impossible for him to get into trouble. It was refreshing to see the kids playing for hours in the ocean, throwing Frisbee, collecting shells, read books, and play in the sand.  Watching them I realized how important some time away from "the screen" can be.  Sometimes we forget the simple things.
We are in the process of interviewing and hiring exemplary teachers, who love children and want to be a part of this great Catholic Community.  If you have questions or ideas, please just ask someone who has the facts.  I hope to announce all of our new staff in the May Knights News.
Ms. Johnson, one or our middle school teachers, is organizing a  significant unit on Care for Creation and the Pope's encyclical on the environment. The seventh graders will be creating raised gardening beds in the school courtyard and using them to grow and harvest spring crops. We are all very excited about these gardens.  They will be a great addition to our campus.
I want to let the School Advisory Board and Parish Council know how much we appreciate them and all of their hard work they do for our community.  The Town Hall went well, and our goal is to continue to be transparent and collaborative in all we do.
After the Town Hall meeting a parent gave me a card. When I got in my car I opened it and it read;  "Struggle is the only way to strength."  "Jesus+ (Any Situation)= Going To Be Just Fine." Never underestimate the power of God.  I am always thankful to be a part of the sensational St. Michael Community.
Many Blessings,
Stacy Tackett

Bus Registration and Frequently Asked Questions

Bus registration will be sent home today.  Please see below for some frequently asked questions.  Bus registration forms are due by April 29, 2016 with a $100 non-refundable deposit.  Forms are also available on Sycamore.

Is St. Michael serious about having buses for next year?

Yes.  St. Michael has committed to hosting bus service beginning with the 2016-2017 school year.  We have contracted with Miller Transportation.

Is bus service only for families that live close to the school?

No.  The proposed routes extend to neighboring counties.  At this time, proposed routes extend from surrounding neighborhoods to the Wilsonville, Simpsonville, Douglas Hills, and Billtown Road areas.  Routes will be finalized once families register in the spring.

When will the bus arrive to school?

Buses will arrive at the school between 7:40 and 7:45 a.m.

When will the bus leave school?

Buses will leave the school at 2:40 p.m. before Carpool 1.

How close will the bus pick up/ drop off my child to my home?

The buses will drop your child off as close to your home as possible.  Buses are not able to enter circle drives so they will drop off at the top of the circle.  Depot stations will be available for more rural areas.

How long will my child be on the bus?

Your child will be on the bus for a maximum of 1 hour one way.  Routes are configured to have the least amount of time on the bus as possible.

What safety precautions will be in place?

Our buses will have seat belts, air conditioning, GPS, and Wi-Fi.  All drivers have background checks, Safe Environment training, and extensive training.

Is my pre-schooler allowed to ride the bus?

Pre-schoolers may ride the bus if accompanied by an older sibling.  Service will not be offered for mid-day drop-off/pick-up.  Pre-school students who attend the afternoon session of ESC may ride.

Is there a discount for one way?

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer a discount for students who ride one way.  We must reserve a child’s spot on the bus for both ways even if he/she does not always ride.

Will the school use these buses for field trips?

The cost of bus service does not include field trips.  However, we will be able to use our school’s assigned buses for field trips.

My child has two households.  Can he/she still ride?

Accommodations will be made for children who have multiple households from dual custody situations.
