Letter From the Principal
Dear Parents,

It is the season of thanks, and I am so grateful for the wonderful families and staff here at St. Michael.  The favorite part of my day is being in the classrooms seeing the amazing lessons our teachers have prepared and how the students are engaged and learning.

You should receive a letter from me today outlining our guidelines for distance learning.  Please note that distance learning will be on the third snow day (not necessarily consecutive).  We are planning to have a practice distance learning day for homework in the near future.

Representatives from the Kentucky Center for School Safety will be here November 18 to complete a facilities and safety evaluation.  Results and recommendations will be reviewed with the School Advisory Board and leadership team.

Please note: November 24 is now a 1:00 dismissal day.  There will be no school Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday for Thanksgiving break.

Many blessings,
Mrs. Tackett

Give Thanks and Give Back
Please note the following items being collected for local agencies.  Your participation is greatly appreciated!

(Nov. 4-23)

The St. Vincent de Paul Society has a Christmas Party for the residents of the St. Jude House and the Dierson Center.  We ask each grade to collect items that will be put in a gift bag and given to the ladies.
This year we are asking the classes to bring in the following items:
Pre-School:  Gloves, Socks, and/or Scarves
Kindergarten: Gloves
1st:  Fuzzy Socks
2nd:  Scarves (fashion or winter)
3rd:  Popcorn and/or individual servings of Mac and Cheese, Rice, Soup, Pasta, etc...
4th:  Packages/Bags of Hard Candy or Gum.
5th:  small umbrellas, packages of note cards, individual size powder drink mixes for water, stamps
6th:  soap (bar or body wash), shampoo/conditioner
7th:  deodorant, toothbrushes/toothpaste
8th:  scented body/hand lotion, Chapstick, hairspray
**this year we are not collecting hats, nail polish or candles.
All items need to be alcohol free.  This applies mainly to the students collecting toiletries.  Also, the toiletry items need to be the smaller sizes.  The more we can fit in a bag, the better present they will receive.

DARE TO CARE (Nov. 5-20)
Each year, the Student Service Council holds a collection drive to benefit Dare to Care Food Bank. Dare to Care relies on donations to feed the poor in the Louisville area, and this drive helps during the Thanksgiving holiday. God has truly blessed us at this school, and it is our privilege to pass along those blessings to those who are in need. Last year we collected 1,483 pounds of food. Our goal this year is to collect 1,500 pounds.

Most needed items:
peanut butter, beans, fruit juice, soup, rice, pasta, canned fruit, tuna, canned vegetables, cereal
*Please no glass containers
