If you were here on Friday you were reminded how much fun the combination of Halloween and learning can be. Days like Friday remind me of why I went into education in the first place. Joy and laugher filled the hallways and classrooms while learning was taking place. Thank you to all of our room parents and everyone for making it such a special day for all.
I want to thank our wonderful School Advisory Board. This group is incredibly supportive, wise, and dedicated. They are now sending out summaries or “Splinters” as an effort to better communicate and inform the St. Michael Community about the work they are doing.
As the weather turns cold, icy, and snowy, I want to remind everyone that St. Michael is participating in the Archdiocesan Distance Learning. This will begin after we have two “fun” and “free” snow days. Detailed information will be sent home later this week outlining how this will work.
The end of the first trimester is November 13th. First trimester grades will be posted on Monday, November 23rd. Please make sure you have touched base with your child’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns about missing work, grading procedures, etc.
The Kentucky Department of Safety and “Safe Schools” will do a formal evaluation of our current safety plan and procedures. These procedures were updated and revised in August but a formal evaluation can only make us better. I will let parents know when this evaluation will occur. We are waiting to get on their schedule.
I have been fortunate that many parents have taken me up on my open door policy. These meetings encompass one of my goals for St. Michael; transparency and trust. I learn so much when I listen and people share. Being new to this community it is especially difficulty to establish this. I am working hard to earn trust and confidence. The leadership team at St. Michael School shares this philosophy and is open to learn and grow as we create a culture of continuous improvement. Thank you for allowing us to serve your family.
