Letter From the Principal
Good afternoon!

I first want to say thank you so much to our parents and students who volunteered for the Iron Man Triathlon aid station yesterday.  We truly couldn't have done it without you.  Running an aide station is a huge undertaking.  From morning until midnight, we provide water, ice, Coca Cola, Red Bull, Gatorade, orange slices, pretzels, chips, bananas, chicken broth, cookies, sunscreen, Vaseline, and more to the athletes four times during the marathon portion of their race.  The runners were so appreciative.  Having wonderful volunteers makes all the difference.  This is the third year my husband and I have run this station, and every year we have such a great time offering this service.  We are pleased to be able to donate the money raised to the St. Michael 8th grade trip.

I have been in touch with Metro Government regarding a crossing guard, and I am pleased to share that things are looking good for us to be assigned a crossing guard soon.  Thanks to our large number of walkers and parents contacting their offices, they assure me St. Michael is at the top of their list.  Fingers crossed!  Until then, thank you to our amazing police officer parents for stepping up for this important job for our community.

We are looking forward to hosting an Open House for prospective families next Tuesday, October 20 from 9-11 a.m. and 5:30-7 p.m.  Please invite any families that may be interested in attending.  Word of mouth is the best kind of advertising.  Our St. Michael students are featured on the Archdiocese Open House posters.  They are posted in the school and the church.  We have so much to be proud of here at St. Michael and can't wait to share it with our interested families.

Warm Regards,
Mrs. Stacy Tackett

Egg-cellent Designs
News Items/IMG_3435.JPGFifth graders recently engineered packaging for an egg drop contest.  Students designed and created a casing for a raw egg.  Then they dropped the eggs out of a window from two stories high.   Some students even created movie trailers using iMovie to describe the process.  The students had a lot of fun and learned a lot from this scientific experience.  Check out this link of one of the egg drops in action.
